Presented by
150 RCAF (North Atlantic) Wing
The St. John's International airport houses a display revealing the history of
the airport and RCAF Station Torbay, the links between Newfoundland, under
Commission of Government, and the RCAF previous to and during WWII.
The display is located in the public viewing area of the airport terminal and
is open to the public. The exhibit was officially opened on June 30, 2002 by
Mrs. Alice Parsons, and dedicated by Hon. Colonel Raymond S. Cole CD,
Padre of 150 RCAF (North Atlantic) Wing.
The memorial itself has two facades. The Exhibit facade shows the history of
military aviation at St. John's International airport/RCAF Station Torbay from
1941 until 1964. The second facade is a memorial honouring the Newfoundlanders
who gave their lives in the Royal Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force during
World War 2.
