As the Wing’s Executive Council's term of office for 2008-09 come to a close, I feel that we have had a great year both socially
and financially. We have been successful in addressing a number of challenges and have some plans already in place for next year.
|
|
During the past twelve months we had unexpected expenses but we were able to turn this around. Your Executive Council implemented an
aggressive fundraising agenda in response. As a result, with your support, we managed to increase our net revenues related to
Ways & Means initiatives from $11,355 to $16,453.
|
|
A lot of volunteer time went into accomplishing this through dinners, ticket sales and bingos. I think that it was phenomenal. We have
ended this year with an almost $20,000 improvement over last year (+ $13,426/.’09 versus - $6,515’/08). For the coming year
I would welcome any ideas to enhance our fundraising efforts.

Once again, our Paddy's Night Dinner & Dance gave us the opportunity to raise funds in aid of The Kids Help Phone and our 515
North Atlantic Air Cadet Squadron. In achieving this success we are indebted to friends and local entertainers who performed
for us again this year.
|
|
The TGIF Dinners were very successful with the numbers in attendance growing at a steady pace. A delicious meal has always been
served, at a great price with friendly service. As well, our Friday Night Mixed Dart League continues to be a great source
of enjoyment for participating members.
|
|
We are continuing to maintain membership(s) in the 120 -130 range. As well we have several persons about to join. I would encourage
everyone to seek out potential members to ensure that the Wing has a good future.
|
|
On a more personal note - I am serving another term. I would like to acknowledge those Board members who are not offering themselves
for office this year namely Maurice Murphy and Norm Macfie but I know that they will continue to help out when they can. I would
also like to welcome the newest members to our Executive Council.
|
|
Also, I would like to extend a huge thanks to Wing Steward Jeannie and Clayton Collins for all of their assistance. Congratulations to
our award recipients - all very well deserved! Great times create great memories. We have a great facility and a membership
that enhances anyone’s social life.
|
|
