November 2010
I’m pleased to report the season has started off with a bang!
Our Darts Program is up and running with all teams fully occupied. Friday Night Darts continues to be a great hit at the Wing.
Our fund raiser Indoor Garden Party was a success, bringing in a net profit of $1,696.69, with more donations coming in; a good start on our much needed building repair and
restoration fund. Mind you, we did need more of our membership attending to really take advantage of the various stalls that were set up and the games offered. Having said
that, this was our first attempt at this kind of an event and we feel sure the next one will reach out to more of our membership. I must commend the hard working members
who pulled this all together under the leadership of Valerie Earle, who has taken on the lead as chairperson of the Building Fund Committee.

It's no secret that the Wing’s building is in sad shape. All the windows are badly deteriorated, some on the verge of collapse. The floor of the front entrance is also looking bad
not to mention our exterior doors. Obviously the time has come; we have to get this project moving. At a Special General Meeting held Wednesday October 13th we presented the
overall refurbishment plan and asked for membership's approval to proceed. Approval was received to proceed with the necessary repairs up to a maximum of $25,000.

TGIF Dinners have started again, and should be as popular as ever. They will be offered every two weeks. Bring along your friends. This is a good way to introduce
your buddies to our Wing and bring in new members.
Some new events are on the horizon: Our very first Lunch and Bridge and Auction afternoon was held on Monday October 18th set up by Norma Butler and Peggy Hatfield. This
was a big success given the growing local popularity of bridge offered at a most reasonable charge of $10.00 each. Prizes were be given.
Our ever popular Fall Flipper/Roast Beef Dinner is set for Wednesday October 27th followed by our Goods Bingo on Wednesday November 3rd. We'll top off these events with
our Christmas Ham and Turkey Bingo on Wednesday December 1st and our ever growing popular Afternoon Tea and Bake Sale on Monday, December 6th. Of course, our New Year's
Eve Gala will finish out the year with a great view of the fireworks over Quidi Vidi.
I see this year as a year of promise and progress for our Wing. We should not only see our building shaping up as a bright and comfortable place to see our friends
and enjoy the venues, but also, I see our Cadet Squadron growing again, offering a safe and interesting program for our young people.
