Hi All.
|
|
With summer almost behind us our activities at the Wing will be soon be getting
underway. Our Regatta BBQ was a great success due in large part to our many volunteers
and the support of some 89 participants. Vice President Norm and his committee are to
be complimented.
|
|
Our first official event will be held on Sunday September 14th, with the Battle of Britain
Church Parade, along with the Wreath Laying Ceremony; a reception will follow at the Wing. As
you will note the ever-popular Friday Night Wing Mixed Dart League and the great TGIF Dinners
will be held again this Fall.
|
|
We are attempting to keep your interests in the Wing and ask for your participation. In recent
years, while we have maintained our membership numbers, participation is down with respect
to some of our events. We really do need increased participation. If you have any suggestions
or recommendations I would be most pleased to hear from you. As you are no doubt aware an
extra table or two at our Bingos, at dinners and other social functions can increase our net
revenues significantly i.e. after our fixed cost are covered for these events.

We are again attempting to keep events attractive and inviting to you. So please check the
Fall Events calendar in this bulletin for times and other details and schedule our events
into your calendar and attend.

I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the artistic endeavors of Harold Hannon. When you visit
the Wing you will observe, that we now have revitalized exterior signage – which is a true work
of art. You can see that a lot of time and energy has gone into it. Anyone who has ever done this
type of work will know how laborious this is to complete and will appreciate the many hours and days
that it takes to do such work. Harold’s previous work, also all hand-done, adorns our stage in the
Lancasterlounge as does the artwork in the kitchen dining area. Thanks again Harold! Great work!

We have a busy year ahead with important items such as our Comprehensive Financial/Business
Plan and New Member Strategy. Both initiatives are vital in order to maintain the viability
of the Wing in the future. We will continue our commitment to our 515 Air Cadet Squadron and
The Kids Help Phone.

|
I would like to thank the Executive Council members and all the volunteers who have given so
freely of their time and talents in the past and hope they and you will continue to do
so in the future.
|
